Adolescence is one of the most confusing and troubling times in a person’s life. With societal pressures, this time can be especially troubling for young girls. That’s why I’m so proud of my girls’ therapy group, where we have fostered a supportive environment where young women can talk, learn, help, and grow.

Our brain, for whatever reason, is hardwired to talk NONSTOP. Think of it as a never ending commentator in your head. He doesn’t even stop to take a breath. To make matters worse, he is so critical! He complains and judges EVERYONE and EVERYTHING especially our own self. It’s like having a bully in your head 24/7!
There is HOPE!!
There are many techniques to minimize the bully effect. One simple one is to say to yourself “there goes that chatter in my head. It’s just thoughts.”
Then distract yourself with something else or an affirmation.
In this case ignoring the bully is the best course of action!!
What does your bully say?
